  • Bile duct strictures
A bile duct stricture is caused by narrowing of the bile duct. There are many causes for biliary stricture - these causes can be benign (non-cancerous) or cancerous. Surgery is normally required to repair damaged bile ducts.

  • Bile duct tumors - Cholangiocarcinoma

  • Common duct stones
Common duct stones are gallstones which have moved into the common bile duct. Treatment for common duct stones is typically the same as for gallstones.

  • Gallstones
Gallstones form when liquid stored in the gallbladder hardens into pieces of stone-like material. This condition is typically treated with a surgical procedure known as a cholecystectomy.
